Elder and Deacon Evaluation 2010 Click here for downloadable form The following is the Biblical list of qualities needed in a man chosen as elder in the Lord’s church. Elders will not possess all of the qualities to a perfect degree but must possess each one to some degree and be growing toward maturity in each. On the basis of these qualities how do you perceive the listed below individuals as an elder of Oswego Christian Church? Please be specific in your response and cite a Biblical text or principle to support your answer whenever possible. This is your designated time to comment on this individual. Failure to do so at this time assumes that you have no objection to this candidate’s serving in this capacity.Biblical Qualifications for Elders as listed in 1 Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9 & 1 Peter 5:1-3 Temperate and self-controlled Able to teach Holy Firm to the Word Not quarrelsome Not overbearing Hospitable The husband of one wife Loves what is good Disciplined Not violent but gentle Not a recent convert Manages his family well with obedient, respectful, believing children Blameless/above reproach Respectable/upright Has a good reputation from outsiders Not pursuing dishonest gain Not a drinker Not a lover of money Not quick-tempered1 Tim 5:21 I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.
